Dr. Traci S. Thompson, professor of English and head of the HSU English Department, is a graduate of Culver-Stockton College in Canton, MO, where she earned a B.A.in English and where she was also a varsity tennis player.
She completed her graduate degrees at the University of Southwestern Louisiana (now University Louisiana-Lafayette) in Lafayette, LA., receiving both her M.A. and Ph.D. degrees.
Thompson served as the graduate program director in English at Hardin-Simmons for five years. She began serving as department head in 2010.
She is a member of various professional organizations and has held positions and offices in them, including vice president and president of the American Studies Association of Texas and program chair of the Southwestern Conference on Christianity and Literature 2011 meeting hosted by Hardin-Simmons.
